56to that available for a maximum capacity of 5 kW for aerogenerator and 10 kW for hybrid systems. The criteria for siteselection has been modified according to which the radial distance of the site from the location of available wind datahas been prescribed as 10 km and the minimum annual average wind speed at the site to be 15 kmph (4.17 m/s) at 20m height.8.14Research and DevelopmentField testing of a 3.3 kW wind electric water pumping systems is in progress at Centre for Energy Technology, OsmaniaUniversity, Hyderabad. An R&D project on indigenous development of 250 Watt aerogenerator has been completed by Centrefor Energy Technology, Osmania University, Hyderabad. The aerogenerator has developed power up to 250 Watt at the windspeed of 13 m/s and has given maximum efficiency of 36.5% at the wind speed of 6 m/s. The efficiency drop of about 18% hasbeen noted at the rated power generation. This behavior is qualitatively in line with normal characteristic of aerogenerators.R&D work on development of a chiller plant through wind-solar hybrid system is in progress at the Centre for ScientificResearch, Auroville in Tamil Nadu. A project sanctioned for indigenous development of 5 kW aerogenerator is in progress atAuroville Foundation, Tamil Nadu during the current financial year.
